About the Band

Cabin of Love is Julia and Nathan Bloom, an acoustic duo from Owatonna, Minnesota. Most songs are originals, with an occasional well-chosen cover thrown in for good measure. Style influences include folk, pop, rock, rhythm and blues, and a wee bit of country.

Since 1998, Cabin of Love has played in coffee shops, living rooms, city parks, church gatherings, benefit concerts, backyards, campfires, a county fair, a soup kitchen, a 10k race, and any other place we've been invited and had no reason to say no. The Blooms recorded the CD, firstfruits, in 1998, and Julia Bloom released a solo project, A Human Called Woman, in 2005.

What does the name mean?

When we were married, our first home was a tiny cottage on the shores of Medicine Lake, in the three-street peninsula town of Medicine Lake, Minnesota. We called it the "cabin of love," and loved to fill it with friends and music. Since then, we've expanded our family and our abode but also our passion for community and simplicity.

Cabin of Love has come to mean a space in our lives where there's always room for others; a simple, welcoming gathering-place for strangers and friends.
